Throughout our resources, you will find English (EL) and multilingual learner (ML) supports and Spanish-translated versions. Games

Most iCivics games are available to play in Spanish and include supports for English and multilingual learners (ELs/MLs).

The Extension Packs provide instruction and guidance on using games in the classroom to build reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills – as well as content knowledge. Most iCivics Extension Packs are available in English and Spanish.

Historians are observant. In this introduction to inquiry lesson, students will learn some of the skills and strategies historians use to learn about the past. Students will use their historian skills to uncover a mystery object as they notice, wonder, infer, and compare.

Why pass a law to grow corn? / ¿Por qué aprobar una ley para cultivar maíz?

Historians study the past. In this introduction to inquiry lesson, students learn some of the skills and strategies historians use to learn about the past. Students will first look at a law created in Virginia in 1617, requiring everyone to grow corn. They will then continue to gather evidence from primary sources to help answer the mystery question: “Why grow corn?”
