The State of Social Studies Education: What Our Many Voices Can Do Together

Our CEO, Louise Dubé, will speak on a panel about the current state of the civics and social studies education field at the 104th National Council for Social Studies Annual Conference in Boston.

Session Description:

Coming off the heels of the 2024 election, social studies and civics education are more important than ever. Our field is uniquely set up to empower the next generation with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to strengthen and sustain democracy. Moreover, the lessons students learn in our classrooms can equip them to be successful in an ever-changing economic landscape. Despite this, the broader public still struggles to see the essential role social studies plays in our society. Join Civic and Social Studies Leaders and Researchers as they discuss the current state of the field and what we can collectively do to legitimize and sustain social studies moving forward.

Panelists:
Zachary Coté, Thinking Nation
Melissa Diliberti, Rand Corporation
Louise Dubé, iCivics
